KELSEYVILLE — Playing the game three days early at Fort Bragg”s request, the Kelseyville Knights fell 2-0 to the Timberwolves in a North Central League I North varsity boys” soccer match on Monday in Kelseyville.
Kelseyville (2-3) needed a win against Fort Bragg (5-0) to jump back into the league race, but the Knights couldn”t get the ball past Fort Bragg”s keeper.
“We had plenty of shots, but their keeper is good,” Kelseyville coach Eduardo Ledesma said.
Two shots by Oscar Martinez and another by Leonardo Martinez had the best chance to go in, according to Ledesma, but all three were turned away.
It remained a 0-0 tie until late in the first half when Fort Bragg finally broke through. The Timberwolves nursed that 1-0 lead late into the second half before added a penalty kick.
“It was a good game,” Ledesma said.
Kelseyville doesn”t return to action until next Tuesday at home against Willits.
