KELSEYVILLE — The Kelseyville Knights made a late charge at Fort Bragg, only to fall 3-2 in a North Central League I North varsity girls” soccer game that went right down to the wire on Monday in Fort Bragg.
Second-half goals by Reme Rico and Monique Santana cut Fort Bragg”s lead to 3-2. With time running out, the Knights had numerous opportunities to tie the game but couldn”t get one past the Timberwolf keeper.
“We were shooting and shooting and shooting,” Kelseyville coach Mark Andre said.
Fort Bragg led 2-0 after one half.
Rico”s goal was a knee shot into the goal, according to Andre, and was set by a pass from Santana, whose goal later in the half cut Fort Bragg”s lead to 3-2.
Kelseyville keeper Amanda Mueller stopped 14 shots.
“We had a great second half,” Andre said. “If we had played with that intensity the whole game, we could have won.”
