LOWER LAKE — Tuscan Village is hosting a “Pirates of the Lake” gathering, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, and Sunday, Oct. 26.

This huge event will include a multitude of live entertainment, crafts and fun featuring local talent. Tickets are on sale now or at the gate for $10 per day or $17 for the weekend. Discounts will be given for senior citizens, students, groups and patrons in pirate or period costumes.

Organizers are looking for participants of all ages to be actors, entertainers, musicians and other volunteers. Free acting workshops take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, and Sunday, Oct. 19. No experience is necessary. Organizers will hold one- to two-hour workshops to train you in environmental theater and things most piratey like; “How to Dress Like a Pirate From Your Closet,” “Pirate Talk,” “A Brief History,” the “Code of Conduct,” certain forms of entertainment and other fun stuff. Other benefits of participating are free admission, acquiring a wealth of new skills, being a part of the inaugural, and having a good time that you will remember forever.

“The wealth of talent here at the lake never ceases to amaze me,” said organizer Ann White. “Especially the young people. A couple of years ago I started Lake & Mountain Young Artists Guild to train Lake County kids in the arts. I believe they should be encouraged to follow their dreams. There will always be a place in the world for artists and performers.”

White has been involved in the Renaissance Faire off and on since 1990 including being a member of the Queen”s Court, and has also been a volunteer at the Living History Centre there. She has taught the arts for 12 years at private schools and individual lessons, and worked with Cobb Mountain students in theater and visual art since 2000.

Organizers are also seeking craft vendors and donations and/or loans of pirate and other period costumes, scenery, props and materials.
