MIDDLETOWN — Middletown High School teammates Jarrod Rudy and Chris Nance put on quite a show Wednesday on their home course during a Coastal Mountain Conference cross country meet against Fort Bragg.

Nance won the 3-mile race in 19 minutes. 41.28 seconds, edging out Chris Nance (19:41.77) by a fraction of a second.

“It was a close race, right down to the wire,” Middletown coach Eric Olson said. “It was a good run for those two boys.”

Rudy”s and Nance”s 1-2 finish propelled the Mustangs to a 17-42 win over Fort Bragg.

Russell Rosenthal finished third for Middltown, David King came in fifth and Francisco Sandoval was sixth.

In the varsity girls” race, Miriam Lane and Kelsey Welton of Middletown were the first two runners across the finish line, Lane in 23:24 and Welton in 23:29. Right behind them were teammates Amber Hart in third place and Amber Ramponi in fourth. Thea Olson came in seventh.
