There are two hospitals in lake county and between the two of them there are approximately 50 beds available for the entire county. God help you, if you go to the emergency room and need to be admitted to the hospital because chances are you won”t be. If there isn”t a bed available you are sent to another hospital. Sometimes in a helicopter or ambulance.

That”s a real good way to keep health care cost down. Your insurance company will inform you as to how life threatening they thought your illness or injury was to warrant such transportation when you submit it to them for payment. Good luck with that. There are approximately 65,000 people in Lake County of which approximately 10,300 are senior citizens. The odds are against all of them in receiving hospital care in lake county. Fifty beds? Who was the rocket scientist that decided this was a good idea?

My dad was one of those senior citizens. We buried him in July. I will never hear him laugh, tell a funny joke, see him play with his grandchildren or look into those beautiful blue eyes again, and in my opinion, it is due to the lack of health care he received in this county. On his last trip to the hospital emergency room when they told us he only had a few more hours to live they had no problem finding him a room. Why? To get a little more money out of him. After all he wouldn”t be taking up space for to long. I told them no it”s a little to late for that now don”t ya think? We took him home, put him in his own bed and tried to comfort him as much as possible.

Did you know that if you are admitted to the hospital you won”t be under the care of your primary care physician. You will only see the hospital doctors. What”s the point of having a family doctor who knows your medical history. I receive better service from my car mechanic. But hey, the hospital grounds and parking lot are sure getting special treatment. I guess they want it to look good for the fifty or so people who will get to see it. The only thing i see when i look at it is red.
