LAKEPORT — The team of Bill Siemantel of Castaic and Troy Lindner of Los Angeles were in the lead after day one of the two-day American Bass Association Tournament of Champions (TOC).
Siemantel and Lindner said they caught more than 20 fish during the day. They brought a five-fish limit of 26.92 pounds to the weigh scales at Konocti Vista Casino, Resort and Marina.
Overall the fishing was tough, with less than half of the 162-team field weighing in a limit.
Local fishermen in the top 20 after day one were Noble Moore and Joel Adams of Clearlake Oaks, seventh with 22.01 pounds; Jeff Billings and Travis Tarver of Clearlake, 10th with 21.25 pounds; Bob Myskey of Nice and Russell Stansbury of Reno, 11th with 21.16 pounds; and Wayne Breazeale and Tyler Drake of Kelseyville, 18th with 18.54 pounds.
The tournament drew fishermen from throughout California and from as far away as New Mexico, Idaho and Utah.
The final weigh-in takes place today beginning at 3 p.m. at Konocti Vista Casino, Resort and Marina.
