UPDATED:

In every hotly contested election, weird and wacky claims are made about the candidates. None is wackier than Adrian Vance”s claim published today that Barack Obama was not born in the U.S.A. and therefore is not qualified under the Constitution to serve as President.

To view detailed photos of Obama”s birth certificate issued by the Department of Health for the State of Hawaii, go to www.FactCheck.org and search for “Obama Birth Certificate.” FactCheck is an independent website of the Annenberg Public Policy Center at the University of Pennsylania. FactCheck states: “FactCheck.org staffers have now seen, touched, examined and photographed the original birth certificate. We conclude that it meets all of the requirements from the State Department for proving U.S. citizenship.”

Also posted on the FactCheck website is Barack Obama”s birth announcement published in the Honolulu Advertiser on Sunday, August 13, 1961, nine days after he was born. Only the most imaginative conspiracy theorist can claim the birth announcement was planted 47 years ago in anticipation of his eventual candidacy for President. FactCheck concludes: “The evidence is clear: Barack Obama was born in the U.S.A.”

The economy, health care, and jobs are the real issues of this campaign ? not bizarre claims about Barack Obama”s birthplace.
