The other day as I was listening to the news, I heard for the umpteenth time the ad encouraging voters to vote no on Proposition 8. I was struck most by the phrase “regardless of how you feel about marriage”

This is the crux of the entire argument, it is all about how one feels about marriage. Either you believe marriage is a sacred institution established by God or you don”t. This proposition is not about equal rights or discrimination, it is about preventing the redefinition of marriage and the traditional family.

A Yes vote for Prop 8 does not curtail any rights or benefits for gays and lesbians in domestic partnerships. This constitutional amendment is not a mean spirited law against gay people, it is the protection of an institution that has been with mankind since the beginning.

The family is the basic unit of society and it begins with marriage between a man and a woman. I hope that you will join with me in voting to save traditional marriage. Yes on Prop. 8.
