LAKEPORT ? The Main Street Gallery”s First Friday Fling”s reception for the artists, 5:30 to 7 p.m. Nov. 7, will feature five new artists. Lynn Hughes will be returning with her finely designed jewelry. Terry Rogers will show his captivating photographs of Lake County.

New to the gallery is Ruth Winisnicwsi, also showing her work in photography. Sophie Lauterborn and Roderick Neswick are two more artists showing for the first time at the gallery. Sophie”s style is to weave her separate works in mixed mediums into one finished piece of unique art.

Neswick, who usually works on comminution in large scale sculpture, will be exhibiting his versatile talent in smaller dimensions in marble and wood.

Continuing in the November show are Odile Epps and Sharon Fenton in watercolor; with Sunny Franson, Ray Farrow, Reggie Meyers and Nicole Kriz in oil and Lozja Mattas in photography. Bill Blum, displaying his finely crafted and whimsical wood pieces, will round out this diverse show.

The Linda Carpenter Gallery will have a bright new look as it welcomes new work from students from the Cobb Mountain Elementary School. Mr. Weiss”s third- and fourth-grade class will display art work based on Hawaiian quilt designs after learning a brief history of the art of quilting from art docent Jennifer Prather, who brought in vintage quilts as an example. Each student then designed their own quilt square using brightly colored paper.

Mrs. Liotta”s fifth and sixth grade class will display colorfully glazed clay masks colored with an assortment of mixed mediums. The gallery is pleased to have this opportunity to present these new and experimenting artists in Lake County.

The very popular and talented Phil Mathewson will further enhance the evening festivities as you browse the work of local artists in our gift shop, sample finger food, enjoy the fine wines of Wildhurst Vineyards and meet the featured artists and mingle with other artists and art lovers.
