CLOVERDALE — Upper Lake”s bid to finish .500 in the North Central League I South varsity volleyball standings ended with a 25-20, 25-21, 25-18 loss to Cloverdale on Thursday in Cloverdale.

Both teams end up tied in the South standings with 3-5 records.

Katy DeVries led Upper Lake with eight blocks.

“She was a force,” Upper Lake coach Sandy Coatney said.

Other leaders were Thon Chao with 19 digs and Hannah Johnson with 12 digs.

Cloverdale also won the junior varsity match, 22-25, 25-16, 15-12, despite seven kills by the Cougars” Emily Knispel.
