It”s time to let the wounds heal, move the United States of America forward, and help stop our downward spiral.
Two days after the election, I read an article in the Record-Bee that continues to fuel the division with nasty discussion of partisan politics. This negative practice has been going on for the last 12 years, and it is now time to put an end to it. Enough is enough. It is time for those that spew their opinions to lick their wounds or pat themselves on their backs and help our newly elected President and Congress move forward in a positive direction.
It is time that we all consider ourselves not Democrats nor Republicans but Americans and do what is correct for the United States. The democratic process ? note the small “d” ? has prevailed, and now it time to unite and work together in order to solve our pressing problems.
Digging ourselves out of the mess that is facing our Nation will be no easy task, and it will take major sacrifices, a change in language, and a united effort on behalf of all citizens.
The first thing that needs to be taken into account is the language used by individuals who should know better. After an election that was by far one of the most democratic that I can remember, it sadden me to have read the “news article” with very different opinions. Maybe the article should have been on the editorial page, then I would have taken it with a grain of salt.
In my estimation, for this country to move forward and in a positive direction, it is time to stop using buzz words like socialism, liberalism, a redistribution of wealth, straight out welfare, unpatriotic and/or terrorist if one does not agree with one”s partisan opinions. The above words are all words that divide our country and help fuel the fire of division.
Hopefully, the election of our new President and a new Congress will work toward bipartisan answers to the existing problems that we are all facing. They are many, and it may take longer than we might like, but we have chosen our leaders, so let”s all make the necessary sacrifices needed to keep moving in a positive direction.
Once again, we have all put our trust in the democratic process, and now we have new leaders. Now is the time to step forward, keep informed about where we are going, and help support our leaders and their efforts. When offering one”s opinion about the direction that we are going, let”s refrain from using those buzz words that only manage to distract from the issues at hand and divide our nation. God Bless the United States of America. May He grant us the wisdom to keep speaking in a civil tone that allows for dissent, discussion, and compromise.
