Wow, it is amazing that now, even certain conservatives are throwing the word “socialist and socialism” at members of their own party. Instead of working to help make a bad situation better, Mr. Vance just wants to throw gasoline on the fire and watch the fire explode.
Please, call the local fire department and help put the fire out. We need sound thinking and cooperation to help move us out of this mess, not a negative attitude and incendiary buzz words, but I guess that is just Mr. Vance”s style!
Mr. Vance, can you give me one solid reason that the current administration should not handle this huge problem before the newly elected President takes office in Jan.?
If our current President has any clout left within the Republican Party, he should do what is best for the Country. Working together with Congress, they can come up with a plan to get help for a great American tradition, the automobile companies, not just GM.
Looking at Mr. Vance”s position to let GM fail, is an interesting position; I am not an economist, but just the idea of a large corporation failing with thousands of contract employees and millions more in tangible jobs within the auto industry are something that the America people should not accept. Add in the flood of pink slips that our neighbors will receive, and his idea is something that boarders on idiotic.
Yes, I agree that GM and the other auto manufacturers have made several mistakes over the years, but on the other hand, they have kept families in their homes and given us a good product over the years.
Yes, the big cars are hurting us, and are far different than my first, a 1949 two-door Chevy coupe, but who are the people that were buying those big monsters. As I recall, there were not many families that could afford those big cars over 58 years ago.
Yes, we had several members of our family that drove Cadillac”s, Oldsmobile”s, and Buicks, and they were all members of the conservative party. And by the way, yes they got a new one every three years or so.
Hopefully, cool heads in Washington will prevail and our government will make the correct decisions based on dissent, discussion, and compromise. Both the Democrats and Republican members of Congress must put partisan politics aside and make decisions that are the best for the United States of America.
In conclusion, let me ask once again, let us all refrain from using those incendiary buzz words that only lead to a division within our elected officials. Weare in so much trouble and we need a unified country that is will to make all necessary sacrifices in order to move our wonderful Country forward.
Once again I ask, may God Bless the United States of America, and may He grant us the wisdom to keep speaking in a civil tone that allows for dissent, discussion and compromise.
