KELSEYVILLE — The 37th annual Stokes Invitational, Lake County”s oldest high school basketball tournament, tips off Dec. 4 and runs through Dec. 6 at the Kelseyville High School.
This year”s tournament features an eight-team varsity boys” bracket and a six-team varsity girls” bracket. The boys will use winner”s and loser”s brackets, while the girls” format is round-robin play.
Competing in the boys” division are Kelseyville, Clear Lake, Justin-Siena, Healdsburg, Piedmont, Roseland Prep, Crater and Pinewood. Varsity girls” teams are Middletown, Piedmont, Fort Bragg, St. Helena, Tulelake and host Kelseyville.
In first-round boys” action on Dec. 4, Justin-Siena plays Healdsburg at 10:30 a.m., Piedmont takes on Clear Lake at 1:30 p.m., Roseland Prep plays Crater at 4:30 p.m., and Pinewood faces Kelseyville at 7:30 p.m.
In first-round girls” action on Dec. 4, Kelseyville and Middletown square off at noon, Piedmont plays Fort Bragg at 3 p.m., and St. Helena takes on Tulelake at 6 p.m.
The Stokes Tournament is the first of three boys” basketball tournaments in Lake County during the month of December. The Upper Lake Tournament follows on Dec. 11-13 and the 15th annual Record-Bee Hoop Classic, which features all of the county”s varsity and junior varsity boys” teams, takes place the week of Dec. 15-20 at Lower Lake High School”s new gymnasium.
