LOWER LAKE — A big and talented Arcata squad rolled past the Lower Lake Trojans 68-40 in the season opener for both of these varsity boys” basketball teams on Monday night at Lower Lake High School.
“That”s a tough opening game,” Lower Lake coach Marty Udy said. “They”re playoff bound, at least their coach thinks so.”
A 20-2 second quarter put the game away for the Huskies, who sank five 3-pointers in the first half — four of those in the second quarter. Lower Lake (0-1) stayed close with 12 points in the opening period but scored only two in the second.
“They were big and shot the ball incredibly well,” Udy said of the Huskies.
David Clark”s 12 points paced the Trojans.
“It wasn”t very pretty, our execution wasn”t there,” Udy said. “We”ve got a lot of work to do.”
