I don”t know about anyone else but my frustration with drivers is about to the breaking point. Not only is there the group that thinks it”s okay to travel as fast as they please but worse another group that seems to have tunnel vision and refuses to look at the speed limit signs and are anywhere from five to fifteen miles under the speed limit!
As I live and breathe, for about two months recently every road I traveled someone was way under the speed limit and road conditions did not warrant slower speeds. And God forbid you should honk at anyone. They either slow down more or just ignore you as if they”re the only person on the road and it doesn”t matter if you are headed to work or an emergency – “you”re going to be late because I”m discourteous enough to not want to pull over for one minute and let you pass.”
They also seem to have forgotten the DMV rule book says to pull over and let cars pass if you have (I”m pretty sure) ten cars or more behind you.
Heck, I”m on a roll now, might as well also mention the non-headlight users. There are actually some who drive in the dark without lights! Doesn”t the DMV book say to use headlights until half an hour after dawn ? or something close to that. But I do know it says to use lights in fog and on overcast days. Last time I checked the dictionary overcast was ? still is ? defined as “a cloud covering”.
Also, two Saturdays ago coming back from Ukiah at 8 a.m. in exceptionally heavy fog, easily half the cars came out of fog with no lights on! And Lake County drivers are famous for this one, too.
We need to show a little more respect and concern for our fellow drivers. Not everyone is a retiree with the luxury of meandering their days away.
I might also suggest to our local doctors to stock up on the high blood pressure medicines because some of us may wind up needing them. Hoping everyone has a safe and timely journey.
