LOWER LAKE — On a team that”s looking for outside shooting, Joe Taylor provided exactly that on Tuesday night as the Lower Lake Trojans knocked off the Potter Valley Bearcats 64-47 in a North Coast Section Foundation Game at Lower Lake High School.

Because it”s a Foundation Game, which is a fundraiser for the section, it does not count in the standings for either team.

Taylor led the Trojans with 23 points, including all five of Lower Lake”s 3-point field goals.

“I thought he played a great game,” Lower Lake coach Marty Udy said of the sophomore.

Lower Lake has only one full-fledged returning starter this season, senior David Clark.

“Aside from Clark, it”s a brand new team,” Udy said. “We”re definitely a work in progress.”

Clark added 14 points and Paul Bailey had 13 for the Trojans.

Lower Lake outscored Potter Valley 25-14 in the second quarter to open up a 35-22 halftime lead.

At Lower Lake, Tashee Denson came off the bench in the second and fourth quarters to spark big Lower Lake runs each time and the Trojans went on to beat Potter Valley in varsity girls” action Tuesday.

Because it was a North Coast Section Foundation Game, the contest does not count in the standings for either school.

Denson finished with 14 points and a team-high six rebounds.

“She was really kind of the spark plug in both of those runs,” Lower Lake coach Andrew Carpenter said.

Veronica Wilder”s 15 points led a balanced Lower Lake attack. Darlena White added 11 points and Amber Daniels had nine.

Lower Lake outscored Potter Valley 19-7 in the second quarter to open up a 33-17 halftime lead.
