The body of Lower Lake resident David Barreda, 33, was found in the trunk of a car on Thanksgiving Day in Sacramento.

Sacramento County Sheriff”s deputies discovered the body following a report of a suspicious vehicle parked on 40th Street in Sacramento.

According to the report issued by the Sacramento County Sheriff”s Department, upon deputies” arrival, they discovered a white 1996 Ford Taurus that had what appeared to be blood leaking from the trunk.

The deputies reportedly did not remove the body and were unable to detect any visible signs of trauma.

“We only got the call because people in the neighborhood saw that an unfamiliar car was parked on the street with blood leaking out of the trunk,” Sharon Chow, sheriff”s record officer, said.

“It wasn”t readily apparent what type of wound the blood was from. It was later determined by the coroner to be gunshot wound.”

Sheriff”s Homicide detectives have assumed the investigation and are attempting to determine a motive for the crime.
