UPDATED:

Two Clearlake Oaks men allegedly involved in a shooting incident that occurred on the evening of Nov. 26 are being sought by Lake County Sheriff”s Office. Patrick Dewin McDaniel, 44 and his brother Cecil McDaniel, 37, are both being sought on charges of attempted murder.

The victim in the incident has been identified Patrick Joseph O”Conner, 42, of Clearlake Oaks. According to the report issued by Captain James Bauman, O”Conner suffered a single gunshot wound to the chest. O”Conner was transported to Sutter Lakeside Hospital via air ambulance and later transferred to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital where he was reported to be in stable condition as of Monday.

According to Bauman”s report, sheriff”s deputies and rescue personnel from the Northshore Fire Protection District responded to a residence on Second Street following a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, deputies contacted O”Conner who was seated in front of his house with an apparent gunshot wound to the chest.

While the victim was being treated at the scene, deputies reportedly learned that O”Conner had allegedly been shot by Patrick McDaniel during an argument at a neighboring residence. The argument allegedly involved the suspects and victim as well as the victim”s 23-year-old son, James O”Conner.

James O”Conner reportedly told deputies that the McDaniel brothers had walked through his father”s property to the neighboring home of Jill Robbins, 40, who the McDaniels had apparently met earlier at a local bar. The McDaniels and Patrick O”Conner had reportedly exchanged words earlier that day and when the brother arrived at Robbins” home, the two O”Conners said they could hear Patrick McDaniel yelling at Robbins so they went next door to her house to intervene.

During an argument that ensued between Patrick McDaniel and Patrick O”Conner, Cecil McDaniel reportedly swung at O”Conner, but missed. Patrick McDaniel then allegedly pulled a handgun from beneath his clothing, struck O”Conner across the face with it and then shot him once in the chest before he and his brother fled the area on foot. Both O”Conners retreated back to their home where they remained until deputies arrived.

Sheriff”s detectives responded to investigate the scene and for approximately five hours additional deputies canvassed the Clearlake Oaks area for the McDaniel brother but where unable to locate them.

The following day, on Thanksgiving morning, another resident on Second Street reported that her 5-year-old son had found a small handgun in their front yard, a short distance from the location of the shooting. Deputies recovered the weapon and an analysis to determine any connection to the shooting is pending.

Both McDaniels are reportedly convicted felons. Patrick McDaniel is recently paroled from prison and is described as a 44-year-old black male adult, six feet in height weighing 235 pounds. He was last seen wearing a “puffy” jacket, dark pants and yellow shoes. He has names tattooed on his left arm and a Playboy bunny tattooed on his right arm.

Cecil McDaniel is described as a 37-year-old black male adult, six-foot two inched in height, weighing 250 pounds. He has bear tattoos on his left upper arm.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of either of the McDaniel brothers should call the Investigations Branch of the Lake County Sheriff”s Department at 262-4200.
