SANTA ROSA — Lower Lake encountered its first test of the young season and the results weren”t exactly promising Tuesday night in Santa Rosa, where Rincon Valley Christian worked over the Trojans 48-20 in a non-league varsity girls” basketball game.

“They”re a team with some size and speed,” Lower Lake coach Andrew Carpenter said of the Eagles, a perennial contender in the North Coast Section Division V playoffs. “It was a good test for us and we didn”t pass that test at all.”

The Trojans (1-1) committed 19 turnovers — in the first half — and finished with 37 turnovers overall.

“A lot of mistakes we didn”t need to make,” Carpenter said.

Rincon Valley led 16-5 after one quarter and 28-7 at halftime.

Veronica Wilder”s seven points paced the Trojans.

Lower Lake plays John Swett on Friday at 3:30 p.m. in the first round of the Berean Christian Tournament in Walnut Creek.
