CLEARLAKE OAKS — One suspect allegedly involved in a shooting incident that occurred on Nov. 26 in Clearlake Oaks has been taken into custody. Cecil McDaniel Jr., 37, was arrested on Wednesday without incident in connection to the crime.
The primary suspect in the case, identified as McDaniel”s 44-year-old brother, Patrick Dewin McDaniel, remains at large. He is being sought on an outstanding felony arrest warrant for several charges including attempted murder.
According to a press release issued by Lake County Sheriff”s Captain James Bauman, while conducting follow-up activities on Nov. 3, sheriff”s detectives located Cecil McDaniel standing on the side of the road on Lakeview Drive in Clearlake Oaks. As detectives approached, McDaniel immediately surrendered, reportedly placing his hands in the air.
Cecil McDaniel was booked into Lake County Jail for felony accessory to a crime and is being held on $500,000 bail while his brother remains at large.
The victim in the incident has been identified as Patrick Joseph O”Conner, 42, of Clearlake Oaks. According to a previous report, O”Conner suffered a single gunshot wound to the chest following an argument that involved O”Conner, his son and the McDaniel brothers.
O”Conner was airlifted to Sutter Lakeside Hospital and was later transported to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital. According to the most recent information, O”Conner has been released from the hospital and is believed to be recovering from his injuries.
The case remains pending for further investigation and the apprehension of Patrick McDaniel.
Patrick McDaniel is a recent parolee described as a 44-year-old black male adult, six feet in height weighing 235 pounds. He has names tattooed on his left arm and a Playboy bunny tattooed on his right arm.
