SACRAMENTO — Three suspects arrested in connection with the murder of David Joshua Barreda, 33, are scheduled to appear in Sacramento County Superior Court on Thursday.

The three were arraigned on murder charges on Dec. 5. No bail has been set in the case and all three defendants remain in custody.

According to the report issued by the Sacramento County Sheriff”s Department, after an exhausting investigation and follow-up on numerous tips from the community, Sheriff”s Homicide detectives arrested Curtis Chapman, 20, Richard Hundley, 20 and Tammy Turney, 44, in connection with the murder of Barreda. All three suspects are believed to be from the Sacramento area.

Chapman was arrested in connection with the crime during the early morning hours of Dec. 3.

He was reportedly taken into custody in Sacramento on the 5100 block of Mendocino Avenue without incident.

Shortly after Chapman”s arrest, Hundley and Turney were taken into custody.

Chapman and Hundley were arraigned on charges for murder as well as for robbery while Turney was arraigned on murder charges only. According to investigators, a clear motive has not yet been established in relation to the homicide.

Barreda, a former resident of Lower Lake, was reportedly residing in Vallejo at the time of his murder.

Barreda”s body was discovered around 7:39 a.m. on Nov. 26 in the trunk of a 1996 Ford Taurus.

Deputies reportedly responded to the scene following a report of a suspicious vehicle parked on 40th Street in Sacramento.

Sacramento County Coroner”s Office has determined Barreda”s death was caused by a gunshot wound and they do not believe he was murdered at the location where the vehicle and his body were found.

David Joshua Barreda, also known as “Johnny Vidal” or “King Rizz” was reportedly known to have had ties to San Pablo, San Jose and East Palo Alto.
