LAKE COUNTY — A groundbreaking ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. today to mark the beginning of construction of Eskaton Clearlake Oaks Manor, a 23-unit affordable senior housing community. The ceremony will take place at the construction site, 75 Lake Street in Clearlake Oaks. A reception will follow at the United Methodist Community Church, located on The Plaza.
The project was developed by Eskaton, a non-profit provider of residences and services for seniors. Todd Murch, president and CEO of Eskaton, is pleased with the project. “We are thrilled at the opportunity to bring 23 affordable housing units for older adults to the Clearlake Oaks community and appreciate the collaborative efforts of all those who have made this development possible.”
Funding for the project, which totals $3,225,000, was provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the State of California Housing and Community Development HOME Funds, the County of Lake Redevelopment Agency and Eskaton. The United Methodist Church provided support in the project development. Peter Givas is the architect and Timberworks is the contractor.
Those expected to attend the groundbreaking ceremony include officials from the County of Lake, representatives from the San Francisco office of HUD, the Eskaton Clearlake Oaks Manor board of directors, members of the United Methodist Church and representatives of Eskaton.
