CLEARLAKE — The Lake County Community Co-op buying club is launching a membership drive in January.

According to executive director JoAnn Saccato, the purpose of the drive is to spread the word of buying club efforts and to increase membership. “We will be offering a free tote bag for all new members that pay their membership in full for the month of January,” Saccato reported in a recent e-mail bulletin.

The tote bags are made of 100-percent recycled cotton canvas and display the purple-and-green co-op logo.

The cost of a buying club membership is $24 per year. Please mail a check or money order payable to “LCC Co-op,” to Lake County Community Co-Op, PO Box 6306, Clearlake, CA 95422-6306; or call 993-4270.

The buying club places orders each week through a regional producer of Community Sustained Agriculture (CSA). A supplemental order is available as well. Ongoing needs include volunteers ? five to seven each week ? to work during weekly pick-ups. For more information or to volunteer, e-mail orders@lakeco-op.org.

The buying club also seeks a dry goods coordinator who can coordinate the ordering and delivery of dry goods for the members. Contact drygoods@lakeco-op.org if you would like to assist.
