KELSEYVILLE — It wasn”t Kelseyville”s best game of the season by a long shot, but the Knights used a 22-point fourth quarter to beat the Fort Bragg Timberwolves 50-41 in the North Central League I North opener for both of these varsity girls” basketball teams on Friday in Kelseyville.
“It was ugly,” Kelseyville coach Caitlin Andrus said. “They stayed with us ? we did not play our best game.”
Kelseyville (1-0 North, 11-7 overall) nursed a 28-26 lead into the final period before outscoring Fort Bragg 22-15 in the fourth quarter.
Amanda Mueller and Ashley Mueller paced the Knights with 14 and 10 points, respectively, and Monique Santana, Skyler Olsen and Sarah Johnson added six points apiece. Twelve of Amanda Mueller”s points came in the fourth quarter.
“Monique Santana had a good game,” Andrus said. “She played consistently and held everything together.”
Kelseyville led 8-4 after the opening period and 18-13 at halftime.
Johnson had two of the Knights” 3-pointers and Santana added another.
Allie Cimolino”s 15 points paced Fort Bragg, now 0-1 in the NCL I North and 6-9 overall.
Kelseyville hits the road on Tuesday night to play Willits. Junior varsity action tips off at 5:30 p.m.
