KELSEYVILLE – Konocti Presents ? and Promoter Greg Bennett are pleased to announce a free showcase performance by The Lost Boys, Sunday, Jan. 25 in the Classic Concert Showroom at Konocti Harbor Resort & Spa. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.; concert at 7 p.m.
“There is just this energy about them that makes you think that they could be one of those special bands,” Bennett said. “They are really musically gifted and they have great passion for what they do as young 17-year-olds. Each time you see them you can feel huge steps in their progress as a band.”
The Lost Boys are a young, budding band hailing from Lakeport. Members range in age from 15 to 17 years of age. The boys are excited to be given this opportunity to entertain their fans and introduce some of their new music locally.
“This is the biggest opportunity we”ve ever gotten. It”s really cool,” guitarist Beau Bastian, 16, said. “Ever since I started playing guitar I always thought if I got good enough, maybe I would get to play at Konocti and here we are. I can”t even say how much we appreciate Greg Bennett for giving us this chance to get our music out there.”
A common love and passion for music brought the five boys together. They say that they have all been best friend all of their lives, which makes it easy for them to collaborate musically. “We”re best friends so were around each other all the time. We play music together every day, even in school,” Jordan Mills, 17, who has been playing drums since he was four, said.
“We”ve grown up with each other so it”s like we just read each other and that really comes out in our music. A lot of our songs were inspired by the experiences we shared when we were younger. They are our childhood memories.”
Mills said he hopes that the opportunity before them helps them grow musically and strengthen the bond they”ve formed as a band. He said it”s really a valuable learning experience that Bennett has provided them, introducing them into the great big world of Rock ?n” Roll.
“Greg Bennett has taken us under his wing and I guess you can say he has opened the doors of opportunity for us,” Mills said. “He”s given us exposure and is just being really great to us. Greg and the whole staff at Konocti have been very supportive.”
Bassist Thomas Cano, 16, said he”s beyond excited about Sunday”s gig. “All of us love playing music and we all just connect. We are great friends and that”s where great music originates. When you are playing music with your best friends, there is nothing better than that,” he said. “I”m ecstatic. I can”t wait for Sunday. We have new material and we are really excited to get out there and play our songs. It”s really exciting to play music in front of a bunch of people.”
The boys are not the only ones enjoying this thrill ride. Kristy Weiss, mother of keyboardist Matt Weiss, 15, said she and the other parents are truly grateful for the opportunities and experiences that have been presented to their children.
“We feel so privileged to be gong through this journey with them. Every time we go to a Lost Boys practice it”s like were at a rock concert,” she said. “We are enjoying the ride of a lifetime. We are sincerely grateful for every moment of every rehearsal that we go to. We really are chasing the dream.”
Bennett had the same evaluation of a Lost Boys rehearsal. He said the last rehearsal he went to, he left wanting more. “I think everybody will be absolutely amazed at how these guys have progressed,” he said.
