Thanks so much for printing Mr. Rose”s commentary on January 22, exactly as he wrote it. Lake County is not a college town, but an area of mostly common folks, many of whom never graduate from high school, yet live here most of their lives. This letter is written by a man of limited education, who writes exactly as he speaks, and is very sincere. He makes many good points, and lays it out as he sees it. Clearly he has no clue at all about rules of grammar, proper use of the English language, or even how to write a sentence correctly, and probably couldn”t care less.
So what if he gets an F in English class? He has strong ideas and gets them across. There is no pretense here, only a person”s true feelings based on what he sees and knows first hand. I think this is one of the things I like best about our county, and also one reason I left the greater bay area! At times I miss the culture, but letters like this remind me of why I chose to live here.
