Community leaders are coming together to help the homeless in our community
Clearlake community leaders are coming together to form a group to help the homeless in our community. Though, there are a few places for them to go to receive food, there is no place for most to sleep where it is warm. It is unfortunate that up until now we have been unable to help with shelter in our community.
A few in our community have been guardian angels and have provided a place to sleep and stay warm by paying for a hotel room for the night or providing blankets, gloves, tarps etc. but this is not enough.
Due to the country”s economic situation homelessness is hitting families who previously had a home of their own and the problem is increasing.
With foreclosures rising in our county homelessness will only continue to get worse.
We are asking the community to come together for a call to action. A drive called “Warm for the Winter” has been established in our community.
We are asking any one that can help to please drop off gloves, socks, (needed the most), stocking caps, ear muffs, coats, blankets and anything else that would help keep people warm.
Please make checks payable to “LCCAA” and put the purpose of your donation on the check
Drop off points and monetary donations can be delivered to the Lake County Community Agency. (LCCAA), behind Foods, Etc. on Lakeshore Drive; Calvary Church, 14330 Memory Lane, behind the laundromat on Olympic; and Church of the Nazarene, 15917 Olympic Drive, on the corner of Olympic and Hwy 53.
Become a community leader by joining the homeless summit. For more information please call City Council member Joyce Overton at 350-2898.

An investment in rural communities is an investment in the national economy
On behalf of America”s family farmers, ranchers, and rural communities, the National Grange, the nation”s oldest general farm and rural public interest organization, congratulates President Obama and Vice President Biden on their historic inauguration.
We appreciate the generous time that the members of your Administration”s transition team has granted to us over the past few months to review our priorities. As we move forward to address our common challenges, Mr. President and Mr. Vice President, we urge you to remember that many of the best opportunities for the sustainable creation of wealth, for the equitable distribution of prosperity, and for the promotion of family friendly lifestyles can be found in our nation”s farming and rural communities. Grange members across the nation pledge to work with your Administration to unlock these opportunities for the benefit of the entire nation.

President of the National Grange
