KELSEYVILLE — Upper Lake High School”s wrestling team rested several of its stars but still beat Kelseyville 56-30 and Point Arena 67-9 on Wednesday during a Coastal Mountain Conference tri-meet at Kelseyville.

The Cougars improved to 6-0 in the CMC standings and close out the regular season next Wednesday in Willits against the also-undefeated Wolverines, the defending CMC champions.

Upper Lake highlights in its win over Point Arena included Josh Gray”s 19-11 decision at 135 pounds. Gray, a freshman, was coming off a first-place finish in the 125-pound class on Saturday at the Sutter Tournament.

Other highlights were Emily Knispel”s win by pin at 140 pounds, Amos Burns” 5-4 double-overtime win at 160 pounds, and Anthony Steele”s win by pin at 215 pounds.

Against Kelseyville, Upper Lake”s Russell Dickinson won by 16-0 technical fall over Thomas Esberg at 135 pounds, Dickinson”s 12th straight victory.

Kelseyville”s Anthony Esberg pinned Upper Lake”s Nick Davidson at 130 pounds.

In other contested matches, Kelseyville”s Chris Lopez pinned Sloan Hennig in the first round at 140 pounds; Upper Lake”s Charlie Coburn won on a second-round pin at 152 pounds; Upper Lake”s Ben Britton moved up a class to beat Troy Davis 5-2 at 171 pounds; Kelseyville”s Jordan Brown pinned Steele in the second round at 215 pounds; and Kelseyville”s Morgan Nelson pinned Sam Wurm in the first round at 285 pounds.
