LOWER LAKE – Lower Lake High School senior Anthony Tavares was recognized for his academic excellence Wednesday during the Konocti Unified School District”s regular board meeting. Tavares was congratulated on his scholarship selection made by the Caldwell Flores Winter (CFW) Foundation.
“There were two $5000 award winners this year and Anthony is one of them,” CFW Foundation representative Michael Riemenschneider said. The scholarship program provides opportunities for graduating students to apply for assistance to attend four year colleges, technical schools and community colleges that offer programs in their areas of interest.
“I have had the opportunity to work with many public school districts to improve and enhance the quality of education for California school children and I am proud to offer this scholarship program,” Ernesto Flores, CFW Foundation trustee and president of Caldwell Flores Winter, Inc. said. “Our program focuses on those students who have overcome challenges and wish to continue their education or training after high school.”
Tavares plans to pursue a career in automotive technology. His goal is to attend Lincoln College of Technology in Colorado.
“Anthony is a rare individual who has developed integrity, responsibility, reliability and resilience. He is a model citizen on campus, works very will with others and is simply and inspirational human being,” KUSD Superintendent Dr. Bill MacDougall said. “I am proud of his accomplishments and pleased with the opportunity the CFW Foundation has provided.”
