Like a lot of readers, I rather enjoy seeing letters and articles from Adrian Vance. The products of a reasonable intelligence and an active imagination, unrestrained by such concepts as accuracy, proof, truth, economics and reality, provides great entertainment.

Rather than perpetually finding fault, I would like to suggest to Mr. Vance (and some others of various persuasions)

that he channel his talents into positive suggestions for improving the things he finds so offensive and wrong. Surely, if he can find fault, he must have some basis for so doing?a condition he would find more satisfactory.

For example. Our schools have serious problems, perhaps

because California is 45th or so of all the states in per capita student spending. Or maybe because operations are inefficient, inept, and no longer meeting the needs of current

times. Suggestions are surely in order. The California prison system probably would make the schools look efficient

if compared. Suggestions? And the determination of priorities to guide what services should be/deserve reduction.

I suspect that “across the board” cuts are stupid.

And, because no one seems to like either taxes, deficits, and massive national debt, I”d like Mr. Vance to take a shot at explaining how it is that some feel that, somehow, the country can reduce its debt without the people starting to share the cost through additional taxes.
