The Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 951 is to be commended for arranging for the replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, respectfully referred to as “The Wall,” to be brought to Lake County. At the monthly chapter meeting on February 10, president Dean Gotham announced that The Moving Wall, the half size replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, DC, will be on display at the Lake County Fairgrounds June 10-15.
Having the Moving Wall in Lake County will be momentous. My wife and I have visited The Wall in Washington, D.C. on two occasions, the most recent being at the 25th Anniversary in November 2007. Each visit was awesome and emotional. Touching the name of my friend, one of 58000+ names inscribed on the memorial, was very meaningful. Visiting the Moving Wall here in Lakeport should provide healing for the many Vietnam veterans still suffering the effects of the horrors of war.
If you have not visited the Memorial in Washington, I sincerely urge you to do so. And get behind the effort to bring the Moving Wall to Lake County. Please support it financially and with your encouragement.
