KELSEYVILLE — It was another tough outing for a young and depleted Kelseyville High School wrestling squad on Wednesday during a Coastal Mountain Conference tri-meet against Fort Bragg and St. Helena at Kelseyville High School.
Kelseyville, fielding wrestlers in only seven of 14 weight divisions, lost to Fort Bragg 51-18 and to St. Helena 63-18.
The Knights” lone win against Fort Bragg came at 215 pounds where Jordan Brown pinned Broderek Klee in the second round. Kelseyville picked up two forfeits for their other 12 points.
Against St. Helena, the Knights” only win in a contested match went to Andrew Serrano at 189 pounds. He pinned Alex Quiralte in the first round. As in the loss to Fort Bragg, Kelseyville also won two matches by forfeit.
“We still are looking for more kids to join our club and try to get back where we used to be,” Kelseyville coach Mike Esser said. “We”ll just have to wait ”til next year and see if we can”t start to compete with some of these other teams.”
Unable to compete on Wednesday because of injuries were Anthony Esberg (arm) at 130 pounds, Braiden Wayment (back) at 135 pounds, and Morgan Nelson (shoulder) at 285 pounds.
Kelseyville hosts the CMC Championships on Feb. 21.
