LAKEPORT — Growth in Lake County, Lakeport and Clearlake will be the focus of a report the Lakeport City Council will hear during its Tuesday night meeting.

Terri Persons of the Lake County/City Area Planning Council (APC) will make the presentation, which concerns the group”s ongoing effort to develop a plan that will outline growth principles in the incorporated and unincorporated areas of the county through the year 2030.

“We”re in our community outreach phase, and we”re having a series of presentations in March,” Persons said.

The plan, dubbed the Lake County 2030 Regional Blueprint Planning Program, incorporates land use, transportation, employment, housing, recreational and environmental data and represents them as layers on a map. Persons said an interactive modeling tool will allow the county”s three governmental bodies and the public to view different growth scenarios and have input in the process of developing the final report.

Attendees at the March meetings will hear a presentation and work in groups to develop growth scenarios and “inform the decision-making process,” according to Persons.

The APC is coordinating the plan with the general plans developed by the Lake County Board of Supervisors, the Lakeport City Council and the Clearlake City Council. Once the public and all three bodies have used the modeling tool to formulate growth scenarios, one scenario will be picked and submitted to the bodies and to the APC board of directors for final approval.

Persons said presentations are scheduled Feb. 24 for the board of supervisors and Feb. 26 for the Clearlake City Council. The target date of completion for the plan is in June 2010.

In other business, the Lakeport Redevelopment Agency will receive public comment on its proposed five-year plan and consider approving the plan. In addition, the agency will give an update on the Avalon Housing Project.

The council will also consider an agreement with the County of Lake for maintenance of Bevins Street and Lakeport Boulevard.
