LAKEPORT — The Soper-Reese Interlude period will end following this year”s Winter Music Fest, on Feb. 28, and March 1, and the March 8 performance of Opera to Pops. Over the next few months we will be closing to begin the next phase of our project. This next phase of construction will allow the theater to add dressing rooms, a full stage, and improvements in lighting and improved access for all.

Watch as the next phase will begin to make more visible improvements to the outside of the building, including the addition of the dressing rooms, a new south entrance and court yard and a well-needed face lift, which will take the theater back to an era of art deco style and grace. The current phase will cost approximately $300,000.

The final phase will require raising $500,000 before it can begin. This phase will include the lobby and restroom renovation, flood proofing, landscaping and curb, gutter, sidewalk and parking lot improvements.

Performances during the interlude have been well received by the community and have showcased the diverse talent in Lake County. Live theater, inspiring music and thought provoking presentations have all been a part of showing how important this facility can be to enhance the cultural life of Lake County.

Mike Adams is chairman of the Soper-Reese Construction Committee.
