CLEARLAKE — In introducing its new breakfast menu, Lakehouse Inn and Bistro will be donating 10 percent of all breakfast sales for an entire month to Lower Lake High School (LLHS) Drama Club. The donation period begins today and ends March 18.

Drama students have their hearts set on performing “Beauty and the Beast” this spring. Production of the play is very costly and in order for the students to be successful in their endeavor, they will need the support of the community.

“The kids really want to do this play and from what I understand it is very expensive. So, they are going to need all the help they can get,” Carol Rowland, Lakehouse Inn and Bistro hospitality coordinator, said. “When people come in for breakfast, they will not only get a delicious meal but they will also be supporting these talented students in their production of ?Beauty and the Beast.” If they mention this article, I”ll give them 10 percent off as well.”

The new breakfast menu features traditional selections such as biscuits and gravy, pancakes and French toast and eggs-to-order. It also features a create-your-own omelet option in which diners can customize their entr?e to satisfy their individual cravings. “We are really excited about introducing a menu that offers so many delicious choices to our diners,” Rowland said. “What better way to celebrate the creativity of our new menu than pairing it with the creativity of our students.”

The drama club will be presenting its annual Comedy Tragedy Night at 7 p.m. tonight in the multipurpose room at Lower Lake High School. A few of the cast stars stopped by Lakehouse Inn and Bistro earlier this week to help kick off the donation period and thank management for its generosity.

“This is going to be a big help to us in raising money for our musical this year,” Kaylee Smith said. Smith will be playing the “tattletale” in tonight”s presentation of “Baby Talk,” which is a student-composed, one-act play that recently earned the club a bronze medal at the Lenaea Festival in Sacramento.

“Costumes are going to be very expensive for ?Beauty and the Beast” so we need to start fund-raising now,” Rebecca Sires, the “Baby Talk” beauty said.

Fallon Diener, who plays the “cry baby” in tonight”s production, said she”s excited about the support Lakehouse Inn is providing the club. “I”m really excited about it. The more money we raise, the nicer the production is going to be. We”ll be able to get better costumes and repaint the props if we want,” she said.

According to Drama Instructor Tracy Lahr, performing rights to “Beauty and the Beast” will run the club $1,400 alone. The costumes, which include elaborate designs characterizing a tea pot, tea cup and the beast itself, are expected to cost between $2,650 to $4,700.

Comedy Tragedy Night admission price is $5 for adults, $4 for students and $3 for senior citizens and students with a student body card. Anyone who would like to donate more is most welcomed to do so. To make donations directly to the program, contact Tracy Lahr at 295-7806, 994-6447, ext. 2203 or 994-6471, ext. 2735.

The breakfast menu at Lakehouse Inn and Bistro, located on Lakeshore Drive in Clearlake, is available from 7 to 11 a.m. Wednesday through Saturday. Sunday Brunch is served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Rowland said that a percentage of brunch sales will also be contributed to the drama club.
