It wasn”t a biblical river of blood that many Lake County residents spotted on Monday at Rodman Slough. A plant called Duckweed caused the red slick on top of the water, which extends out into Clear Lake. According to Skip Simpkins of the county”s Lakebed Management Department, the plants probably came from the smaller sloughs that drain into Rodman Slough. The plant is common at Clear Lake, according to Simpkins.
