CLEARLAKE — Various charges have been placed against a man and a woman who allegedly attempted to steal pain medication from a resident of Olympic Village Apartments in Clearlake on Friday Feb. 13. Daniel Ray Holt, 25, of Clearlake, and Vivian Meranda, 46, of Clearlake, were arrested on various charges including attempted robbery, burglary, conspiracy and accessory to a crime.
According to Clearlake Police Lt. Mike Hermann, Holt entered the unidentified victim”s apartment carrying a handgun while wearing a bandana covering his face. He was reportedly scared off when the victim made mention of someone else being in the residence with her.
Holt fled the scene and was allegedly seen getting into a vehicle belonging to Meranda, who is reportedly known to the victim. The two were located around 7 p.m. at Meranda”s residence and arrested for various charges.
Holt was booked into Lake County Jail on charges of burglary in the first degree, attempted robbery and exhibiting a firearm, which had later been found to be a “realistic looking BB gun.” Meranda was arrested and booked on conspiracy and accessory (after the fact) charges.
It was determined during investigation of the incident that Meranda had allegedly driven Holt to the apartment building in order to steal pain medications from the victim.
In a separate incident, Darin James Hammond, 30, of Clearlake, was arrested around 5:41 p.m. Friday when a neighbor reportedly witnessed him in his attempt to break into a garage on Austin Drive. Upon officer arrival, Hammond reportedly refused to obey officer”s commands and it was necessary for the officer to deploy a TASER. Hammond was booked into Lake County Jail for obstructing/resisting a peace officer and for attempted burglary.
