CLEARLAKE — A domestic dispute led to the arrest of a Clearlake man on Sunday. Thomas Edgar Wilkerson, 53, was arrested for battery as well as on several other charges including firearms violations.

Wilkerson was reportedly involved in a domestic dispute around 5 p.m. Sunday in which he allegedly battered a 38-year-old unidentified victim. According to a report issued by Clearlake Police Lt. Mike Hermann, as the victim fled the Woodland Drive residence, Wilkerson pulled out a handgun and fired a round. He had reportedly threatened to kill the victim; however, Wilkerson claimed that the victim was armed with a butcher knife and that he had fired his weapon in self-defense.

Officers located Wilkerson at the residence and he was arrested without incident. No injuries were reported.

Wilkerson was booked into Lake County Jail on battery and domestic violence charges as well as firearms violations. He was also charged with child endangerment as a child was reportedly present during the incident.

A report has been forwarded to the Lake County District Attorney”s office for review.
