Here”s some chewing gum for your brain until June, 2009.
Many employers pay their employees just under the next highest tax bracket to curb overtime abuses and to help employees take home more pay. Cities, counties and major retailers do this. Has it occurred to anyone that you”ll get less net pay, not more? By the way, they aren”t changing the tax charts for 2009 either. Using the 2008 1040EZ at the single person rate, someone earning $25 hourly will pay $150 more in federal taxes, thereby reducing the $13 per week to $9.87. Considering all the other taxes withheld, you”ll lose more money from your net. Here”s my suggestion. Expect less, adjust your withholding, and thank Obama for his help.
