I read with interest Mr. Hagan”s letter regarding dog attacks in the Oaks. 14 attacks in five years certainly sounds like a lot. I do not wish to minimize the seriousness of the problem he describes. If he is the same gentleman I have seen walking with head lamp, flashers and a long stick; when I have seen him walk he is always accompanied by his dog. When you walk with your dog, you automatically attract the attention of any stray pooch in the area. I know, I walk with my dog all the time through the Oaks. But if you walk alone or with another human, you are much less likely to be disturbed.

Again, I am not trying to minimize the problem he describes, but I do want people to know that Clearlake Oaks is a good community and a safe one to walk in. Take your dog along for a walk and you become a magnet for all the strays in the area. In my case, walking my dog consistently since 2003, I think we have been attacked only two or three times and “attack” really is too strong a word to use for the incidents we experienced.
