LAKEPORT ? On Thursday at 11:12 a.m. Lakeport Police Department (LPD) officers were dispatched to the Lakeport Car Wash on Martin St. at S. Forbes St. to investigate the report of a robbery, according to a press release from Kevin Burke, Chief of Police, Lakeport Police Department.

Officers determined that the male victim, 16, was approached by a Hispanic man who displayed a small folding knife and demanded the victim”s money. The victim turned over a small amount of money to the suspect who then ran from the area on foot, traveling south on S. Forbes St. toward C St.

The victim and witnesses described the Hispanic male subject as being between 5-feet-8 to 5-feet-9 inches tall, medium build, with black hair, unshaven, with “bad” teeth, wearing blue jeans and a black hooded sweatshirt with the hood on his head at the time of the robbery.

Four LPD units and five Lake County Sheriff”s Department units checked the area for the suspect but did not locate him.

The aforementioned subject also matches the description of a person who was reported to be asking people for money outside of the ATM at Bank of America at approximately 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday. LPD units responded but did not locate the subject.

The LPD is continuing to investigate this incident and thinks the suspect may be transient in the Lakeport area.
