LAKEPORT — Middletown High School”s tennis team improved to 3-0 with a 3-2 victory over the Clear Lake Cardinals on Friday in Lakeport.

It was the season opener for Clear Lake.

Middletown took two out of the three singles matches and split with Clear Lake in doubles.

In singles action, Middletown”s Miriam Lane beat KC White 6-1, 6-0 in No. 1 singles. Middletown also won in No. 3 singles as Tasha Gibbs turned back Humberto Perez 7-5, 6-1. Clear Lake”s Nate Seacrest was a 6-2, 6-2 winner over Jeanine Zolczynski in No. 2 singles.

In doubles play, Middletown”s Will Phelps and Jason Candelario posted a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Darcy McCarrick and Claire Mansell in No. 2 doubles. Clear Lake won the No. 1 doubles match as Hayden Gilbert and Tony Valdez beat Tyler Madsen and Chase Mannisto 7-5, 6-3.
