COLUSA COUNTY ? A Clearlake Police Officer was arrested late Monday night in Colusa County on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
Michael William Hansen, 24, of Oroville, was reportedly determined to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage following field sobriety tests conducted by a Colusa County Sheriff”s Deputy.
Search of Hanson”s vehicle reportedly revealed several firearms and a small amount of marijuana.
Hanson was booked into Colusa County Jail on DUI charges as well as violation of Penal Code 12025(a), which is defined as possession of a concealed weapon.
According to a report issued by the department, California Highway Patrol Williams area officers were advised of a possible DUI driver by the Colusa County Sheriff”s Department at approximately 11:58 p.m. March 23.
When CHP officers arrived on scene, they reportedly made contact with a sheriff”s deputy who stopped Hansen”s vehicle while traveling westbound on Highway 20, just west of Kings Road. He was reportedly stopped for driving without a rear license plate light.
According to the CHP report, it was discovered that Hansen did have a prescription from his doctor for use of marijuana.
According to CPD Lt. Mike Hermann, if the allegations against Hansen are proven to be true it may be a violation of departmental policy. Consequences of such a violation, he said, would depend on the totality of the circumstances. Lt. Hermann further reported that Hansen is currently on unpaid leave due to personnel issues and has been for several months.
