LAKE COUNTY ? A sexual abuse lawsuit against the Rev. Ted Oswald, known as “Father Ted,” was settled Feb. 26, according to the plaintiff”s Hayward attorney Rick Simons.
He said the Roman Catholic Diocese of Santa Rosa agreed to pay $1.3 million in damages. Two victims will divide the sum, according to Simons, who said he was not authorized to release the name of the second victim.
The lawsuit alleges “intrusive and invasive physical abuse” against Christopher Griego, 32, between 1988 and 1995. Griego was 13 and an altar boy at St. Mary Immaculate in Lakeport at the time of the alleged abuse. The second victim was a member of the parish, according to Simons.
Attorneys Dan Galvin and Adrienne Moran, representing the diocese, could not be reached Thursday.
