LOWER LAKE — Josh Benfante struck out six in five innings and the Lower Lake Trojans beat the visiting Cloverdale Eagles 7-6 in a non-league junior varsity baseball game on Thursday.
Jason Winans went 3-for-4 with double for Lower Lake (1-3), which won its first game of the season, and Kyle Buckingham and Kevin O”Quinn also had three hits apiece.
Buckingham had a strong game at catcher, according to Lower Lake coach Joe Mattos.
“He”s so solid, he dominates behind the plate,” Mattos said.
O”Quinn pitched two innings for the save.
