PETALUMA — In a game that featured three home runs, the St. Vincent Mustangs beat Middletown 6-3 in a non-league junior varsity baseball game on Tuesday in Petaluma.

Middletown, now 7-2 on the season, has lost twice to St. Vincent this season. The last meeting resulted in a 14-5 St. Vincent victory.

“They”re a very good team,” Middletown coach Charles Russ said. “But overall I”m very proud of the boys. They hung in there.”

Middletown picked up two of its runs with one swing of the bat, that a two-run blast by Austin Hunter, who drove in all three of his team”s runs. He knocked in another with a safety squeeze.

Losing pitcher Saul Preciado went the distance, allowing just four hits, striking out four and walking two.

“He did really well,” Russ said. “Their two, three, four hitters are monster hitters.”

St. Vincent”s home runs included a three-run blast and a solo shot.

The Mustangs travel to Cloverdale on Friday and then wrap up a five-game road trip Monday in Lakeport against Clear Lake.
