Some 20 years ago Tut and Doris Harville said they would supply the beef to promote athletic equipment and uniforms for 10 years.
They asked me to cook for it. For 10 years I did this at both the Harbor Bar and Grill and the Boathouse restaurant. At the end of that time, Tut said he was through and to end the program.
I decided, although I was never allowed to play sports in Upper Lake, that it was too good of a program for the children to abandon it.
So I took it over with the help of many people, including Coach Craig Kinser, Doris Harville and the Boathouse. I”m sure many good kids have benefited from the money raised by all of you ? the community.
However, I am disturbed to find some of the same kids, many now grown, some as old as 30, are cutting my fences above the first and second riviera of Lucerne and behind Lucerne proper.
They do this to ride their dirt bikes and quads and they tear up the land. If livestock gets out, they don”t seem to care. This is pure vandalism and gives a bad name to all to all bike riders.
My son Frank and I have arrested some, but hopefully with your help, we won”t have to arrest more.
The lands that I”m talking about are all fenced and are private property.
