Goodman speaking

UKIAH — Amy Goodman, long-time host of “Democracy Now!,” speaks Sunday, April 12, at the Carl Purdy Hall at the Redwood Empire Fairgrounds on North State Street in Ukiah. Doors open at 11:15 a.m., with Goodman beginning about noon.

“Democracy Now!” is heard on media outlets across the United States and around the world, including 6 p.m. Monday through Friday at KPFZ 88.1 FM. Tickets are available from in advance from www.brownpapertickets.com as well as at the door.

Children”s art festival

LAKEPORT ? Early Connections Preschool in Lakeport along with several other early childhood education programs, is observing the Week of the Young Child, April 19 to 25, with a children”s art festival, taking place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 18, at Library Park in Lakeport.

This family event will feature children”s artwork, art auction, music by John Carter and lots of hands-on art activities and fun for the whole family.
