CLEARLAKE ? A Clearlake man was arrested Wednesday and charged with domestic violence, assault with a deadly weapon and illegal discharge of a firearm after reportedly chasing down his live-in girlfriend with a gun. Authorities are still searching for the weapon, which is believed to be silver and black Glock 9mm.
Sean Allan Morgan, 31, of Clearlake was booked into Lake County Jail on the above charges with bail set at $150,000.
According to Clearlake Police Lt. Mike Hermann, at approximately 4:44 a.m. Wednesday, dispatch received a call from a woman who reported that she had been battered by her live-in boyfriend and was in the process of driving to the police department. She also reported that her boyfriend, identified as Morgan, was in his vehicle following her on Lakeshore Drive.
“While the victim was still on the phone with the dispatcher, several gunshots were heard in the background as the victim advised that Morgan was now shooting at her,” Lt. Hermann reported.
Officers Carl Miller and Dominic Ramirez responded to the area and located the victim on Lakeshore Drive near Alvita Avenue. The officer instructed her to continue to the police department and initiated a search for Morgan. Morgan was eventually located at friend”s house on Shultz Avenue where he was reportedly taken into custody without incident.
“During the course of the investigation, the handgun used during the incident was never found; however, officer did locate several 9mm shell casings in the roadway on Lakeshore Drive near Mullen Avenue,” Lt. Hermann reported. “The investigation into this incident, including a search for the outstanding handgun (believed to be a silver and black Glock 9mm) is continuing.”
