UKIAH — Course familiarity helped Kelseyville High School”s Nick Schaefer fire one of the day”s low rounds, a 6-over-par 76, during the 23rd annual Ukiah Invitational on Monday in Ukiah.
Kelseyville finished eighth out of 16 teams in the predominantly large-school field with a score of 431. Cardinal Newman of Santa Rosa came in first with 396, Windsor was next with 405, California High School (San Ramon) came in third with 405, host Ukiah was fourth with 414, and Sonoma Valley rounded out the top five with 418.
The low individual round went to Justin Haley of California High School with 71. Two shots back at 73 was Corey Robello of Cardinal Newman, while Schaefer and Brent Walker of Ukiah tied for third with 76.
“Nick has played here a lot,” Kelseyville coach John Berry said. “I think he”s comfortable here.”
Also for Kelseyville, Jonathan Bridges finished with 83, Tyler Drake had 87, Hipolito Perez carded a 90, and Corey Huber had 95.
Schaefer”s round included three birdies. Perez had one.
Kelseyville returns to action Monday at the Tracy West Invitational.
